Your data, in plain language

Excolere is an anonymous public speaking coach. You do not create an account, and we do not ask for your name. This page explains what we collect when you practice, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
Excolere (excolere.ai) decides how and why the data described here is handled, which makes it the data controller. For anything in this policy, including requests about your data, contact privacy@excolere.ai.
What we collect
- Your voice recording, when you choose to record a practice.
- The transcript and delivery measurements taken from that audio.
- The coaching we generate for you.
- Your onboarding answers, including any optional details you decide to share.
- A random anonymous ID stored in a cookie, so your results come back to you.
- Privacy-friendly, aggregate usage analytics, only if you accept.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use your recording, transcript, and answers to deliver and personalize the coaching you asked for. The legal basis is performance of the service you requested. We use optional analytics only with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Who processes your data
To provide coaching, your recording and transcript are processed by a few trusted providers acting on our behalf. We do not sell your data.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, including the United States, so your data may be processed there under appropriate safeguards.
Your voice recording
Your recording is the most sensitive thing we handle, so to be exact about it:
- We use it for one purpose: turning your speech into text so we can measure your delivery and write your coaching.
- We do not create a voiceprint, and we do not use your voice to identify, authenticate, or recognise you. Our transcription asks only for words and their timings. We never try to work out who you are.
- We never sell your recording, license it, or profit from it in any way.
- Destruction schedule: the audio file is deleted automatically about a day after it is processed. That deletion is automated, not a promise to get round to it.
How long we keep it
Your audio recording is deleted automatically within about a day. Your transcript, results, and progress are kept so you can track how you are improving over time.
To have those deleted, email us with a link to one of your results. That link contains the only identifier we can use to find your data: because practice is anonymous, we hold no name or email address to search by, so without it we genuinely cannot tell which records are yours. Clearing your browser cookies also detaches your device from any past results.

Essential cookies are needed to run your practice sessions and cannot be switched off. Optional analytics stays off until you accept. to review or change your choice.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws, you can:
- Access a copy of your data
- Correct data that is wrong
- Delete your data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Complain to your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@excolere.ai. Because sessions are anonymous, please write from the device you practiced on, or include details that help us find your data.
If you are in the United States
California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and a growing number of other states give their residents privacy rights. The rights listed above apply to you too, and two points are worth stating plainly because those laws ask for them:
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We never have. There is no advertising on this service and no ad trackers, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- We will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right. The service is free either way.
The categories we handle are: audio recordings, the transcripts and delivery measurements derived from them, the coaching we generate, your onboarding answers, and a random anonymous identifier. They are used only to deliver and improve the coaching you asked for, as described above.
Children
Excolere is intended for adults and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has used it, contact us and we will remove the data.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
